It started with a joke. We wanted to write a song that was like "Third Eye Blind, Matchbox 20 and Hootie and the Blowfish all at the same time". I added that it should be a graduation song, because we haven't had a good graduation song in a while. Previous classics include jams by Baz Luhrman, Vitamin C, Greenday, and Semisonic (though it's a song about a bar) but not Third Eye Blind (though the song is called "Graduate").
Once Whitney got his recording brain on it, the song took off. We now have 8 tracks and have yet to record: main vocal, background vocals, electric guitar, or some laser vibration thingy that sounds like U2
At least we're having a good time.
Running the board is complicated.
Here are the chords if you want to play along. I wrote the basic structure but the Am3 and the C/G are Whitney's. I proposed we have a Lennon/McCartney arrangement for songwriting royalties.
